Macmillan East Ren is a project offering information and support to people affected by cancer in East Renfrewshire. Our aim is to make it as easy as possible for people to get the support they need, to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can. Volunteers are at the heart of our project, and by joining us, you’ll be doing something amazing for people at a difficult time.
East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure Trust is working in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support to develop a network of cancer support services within communities.
We provide local access to quality information and emotional support at our weekly drop-in services within libraries. Physical activity opportunities are accessed through our Move More project, which offers low-intensity exercise through walking groups and gentle movement classes. Move More develop to include circuit based classes and gardening groups to further meet the physical activity needs of people affected by cancer within East Renfrewshire. We fully understand the importance of remaining physically active during and post treatment and Move More will aim to support people to understand the benefits that physical activity can have to their physical and psychological wellbeing.
We need volunteers who have a warm and friendly manner, are supportive and non-judgemental, with great communication skills and a willingness to learn – no previous experience is required.
