Our Doors Open Day 2024!
Saturday 21st September at Eastwood House & Barrhead Foundry!
We are delighted to be running a series of events to celebrate Doors Open Day and this year’s theme of The Heritage of Routes, Networks and Connections!
Join us this Saturday at Eastwood House & Barrhead Foundry. We’re running free workshops, the touring You Are Here Exhibition, as well as the chance to help us create a giant artistic map of East Renfrewshire.
All our Doors Open Day Activities are free, but some do require pre-booking.
You Are Here Exhibition
Saturday 21st September, 11am-4pm at Barrhead Foundry
View the You are Here Touring Exhibition which is visiting East Renfrewshire, courtesy of the National Library of Scotland. The exhibition explores the ways we use maps to examine and understand our world. As well as viewing the exhibition, visitors will be able to browse local maps, and other related items from the East Renfrewshire Heritage Collection. FREE, drop-in anytime between 11am-4pm
Adult Mapping Textures Workshop
Saturday 21st September, 10am & 1.30pm
Eastwood House
Come to one or both our sessions where we’ll look at the textures of Eastwood Park by exploring it to create an alternative map. In our morning session, we will make moulds of natural textures as we walk round the park. In the afternoon, we’ll make recycled paper and explore with microscopic lenses to delve deeper and build our map.

Connections – Adult Poetry Workshop
Saturday 21st September, 1pm
Eastwood House
Join celebrated poet, artist and theatremaker Kevin P. Gilday as he guides you through the principles of poetry writing. We will use the theme of ‘Connections’ to start our writing journey, sharing our ideas with each other, or keeping it private-it’s up to you.

On The Map – Family Activity
Can you help us decorate and complete our GIANT map of our area? Pop in and give us a hand by drawing your local school, park, shops and more!
